The Cape Jourimain Nature Centre

Cape Jourimain Nature Centre Inc. became an officially-registered charitable organization in 1997, and in 2001 the Centre opened its doors to the public.

It is operated by a board of volunteer directors with a mandate to provide programs that promote awareness and respect for the local natural and cultural heritage. A large part of our purpose is to maintain and enhance the nature centre facilities and steward the National Wildlife Area.

The opening of the Confederation Bridge in 1997 meant a loss of ferry service and the supporting jobs to the Cape Tormentine area. Part of the Nature Centre’s mandate was to offset the economic impact on the local economy by providing employment.

We strive every year to educate through eco-responsibilty and create an opportunity for visitors to experience an intimate and personal interaction with nature and come away with a better understanding of the natural world around us.
