Eco Responsibility
Cape Jourimain Nature Centre is about choices. We offer our visitors an opportunity to talk about food, renewable energy, education and learning, nature, and sustainability. We also invite you to ask us about our own work towards making our operation environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
Education and Outreach
Cape Jourimain offers daily programs on demand as well as specialized programs for school groups and bus tours. We hold yearly events that include our Osprey Festival and our EcoArts Festival. More about our events. You can download various brochures and fact sheets that we have developed here at the Centre.
Renewable Energy
The Centre features a number of innovative green technologies that greatly reduce the environmental effects of the thousands of visitors that use the facilities at Cape Jourimain.
- Composting toilets,
- Biological greywater treatment,
- Rainwater collection,
- Geothermal heat pumps,
- Solar water heater,
- Wind turbine.
Nature Observation
Our trail system is made up of three trails and a beach access that provide visitors with outstanding opportunities for exploring different habitats and enjoying a wide range of coastal panoramas.
Healthy Food
We place an emphasis on healthy, reasonably priced meals prepared from local and organic produce and food. We try to purchase and sell Fair Trade products, both in the Restaurant and in the Salicornia Boutique.

EcoArts
Cape Jourimain Nature Centre's EcoArts Festival is an annual event that encourages artists and the general public to look at and respond to nature with creativity and environmental sensitivity.
